Professional Counselors include Pastoral Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors.
Staff Professional Associations include: National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC), American Counseling Association, American Association of Christian Counselors, Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C), and National Certified Counselor (NCC).
Carla Debnam, MS, LCPC, Executive Director - Has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science for Business from the DeVry Institute of Technology and in May 2001 she graduated with a Master of Science degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College and is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). She is a member of the American Counseling Association and the American Association of Christian Counselors. Has been at the Renaissance Center since the summer of 2001. Enjoys spending time with her family, reading and baking. Nicole Barber, MA, CAS, NCC, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Program Director - In May 1992, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Norfolk State University. Then in May 1996, obtained a Masters of Art degree in Counseling Psychology from Towson University. She continued her studies at Loyola College where she obtained a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Pastoral Counseling in May 2001. In May 2005, she graduated from Howard University School of Divinity obtaining a Masters of Divinity degree. Moreover, she is the East Regional Director of the Black African-American Association Christian Counsellors (BAACC). She holds memberships with the National Certified Counsellor (NCC), the License Clinical Professional Counsellors in Maryland (LCPCM), the American Association of Christian Counsellors (AACC) and The Pro Bono Counselling Project in Maryland. Since August 2001, she has been a Pastoral Counsellor with the Renaissance Center. John Belcher, M.Div., Ph.D., LCSWC. - Earned his Masters of Divinity from Lexington Theological Seminary in 1981. He also earned his Masters in Social Work form the University of Kentucky in 1982. He earned his Ph.D. in Social Work from Ohio State University in 1987. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Maryland. He is employed full time at the University of Maryland School of Social Work where he is a Professor and specializes in Psychopathology and Public Policy. He also teaches at Saint Mary's Seminary and University Ecumenical Institute of Theology where he specializes in Pastoral Counseling, Grief Counseling, and Marital Counseling. Dr. Belcher has been a therapist for over 30 years and specializes in mood disorders, ADHD, anxiety disorders and marital counseling. He attends Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church where he is an elder and teaches several Bible Studies.
Loretta Hill, MA, National Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) - Counselor at the Renaissance Center since June, 2002. Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from Morris College, Sumter, South Carolina; Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling from North Carolina Central University, Durham, North Carolina. Retired from the Baltimore City Public School System as a Guidance Specialist in 1999. Loretta was responsible for writing program plans and training counselors for the Elementary Guidance Program in the Baltimore City Public School System. Under her leadership, the program increased from twenty-one counselors to sixty-eight counselors. Loretta is a member of Pennsylvania Avenue African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church where she serves as Director of Counseling and Support Services. The focus of her counseling is self awareness. Her belief is that God has given each of us all that we need to be the best that we can be, if you apply yourself.
Annette Hyman, MS in Pastoral Counseling, National Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) - Is a licensed professional counselor and mental health provider. She received a graduate degree in Pastoral counseling from Loyola College. Her training specializes her to work with issues related to depression, anxiety, anger management, coping with loss/divorce, parent/child conflict, self-esteem, parenting, and pre-marital and marital issues. Annette has also presented workshops in diverse settings about topics related to marriage and family health. Annette is the Co-Founder/Director of T.H.R.I.V.E. Inc., a non-profit organization established to partner with women as they seek direction for hope, peace, and healing from past trauma and pain. She has received continuing education in women issues, specifically sexual trauma and abuse. She is a certified mediator and volunteers as a member of the Sexual Assault Response Team.
Vanilla C. Jackson, BS, Pastoral Counseling - Received a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Coppin State University and is actively pursuing a Master's degree at Loyola College. She has over 20 years of counseling experience. She began this experience as a hotline counselor for Lutheran Social Services Law and Justice Department, working with inmate grievances. She continued on to The House of Ruth as a hotline counselor, then off to The Division of Parole and Probation where she worked extensively providing supervision to a multi-cultural population providing services and referrals in crisis intervention, domestic violence and addictions. She is a member of SASH: The Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health, and also a member of the Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. She has a holistic approach to counseling, mind, body and spirit. Has been at the Renaissance Center since the summer of 2001.
Sheri Brown, MS, MSW, MA, National Certified Counselor (NCC), member of American Association of Christian Counselors, American Counselors Association, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) - Earned a B.S. in both Social Work and Mental Health from Morgan State University, 1980; Masters of Social Work and Master of Arts in Public Administration, from the Ohio State University, 1982. Sheri works with individual clients and families and has broad experience working with pre-marital, engaged and married couples. She is a cerfified PREPARE-ENRICH Counselor and Seminar Director, qualified to train and certify others. In addition, Sheri is an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Maryland at Baltimore, School of Social Work.
